Marquesan Drum mug
This Marquesan drum mug is based on designs from wood carvings found in the Marquesas Islands, used in ceremonies for hunting, fishing, wars, funerals and more. Glazed with a burnt wood rub, turquoise seafoam Polynesian base pattern, rope detail, and speckled buff interior to mimic the hide skin used on traditional tribal drums.
This is a limited edition of 20 in this glaze combo. There will be more editions of 20 in different glaze combos, with no more than 80 total mugs, plus a few artist proofs.
The mug design began while I was with the Menehune Design Group, and I decided to leave the stamp as a final nod to the awesomeness that was MDG since it has disbanded.
